Certabo International Club Feb/March Tournament

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Anyone interested to give this initiative (or another format like the suggested occasional 30+30 games in a competition over time) a revival and new boost?

To be honest I haven't used my Certabo board for a long time on Lichess, too bad. I think I (we) should make more use of our wonderful pieces of art from Bologna, don't we?

Perhaps new folks that bought a Ceratbo eboard might want to join in?

Hi Michiel,

I tried a revival last year and didn't get enough response to sustain it. One issue I found was that the most users are in Europe, and I am in Australia. The time difference then became a problem - when it's morning there, it's night time here and I'm not good enough to make sitting up until midnight winning some games.

I made you a Team Leader of the club - feel free to set up a tournament that works for you Euro blokes. If I can make it, I'll join in. I'm in the process of packing up my place to move..

Hi, thank you, appreciated !

I will consider and perhaps try a slightly different format. e.g. one game per week or even per month with a slightly longer time format (in Lichess considered in the category classic) 30 +30 or so). This instead of three rapid rounds on one day.

And then see what interest there is amongst team members.

Ideally not every game in a certain competition round has to start simultaneously at the same time and paired players could agree a suited time, but (I will check) I fear that is not possible in the Arena or Swiss tournament formats Lichess offers at the teampage itself.

If that is the case we could also build a separate competition scheduling page and let paired players just challenge each other in individual games at lichess at a time suitable for both and the results and standings are then stored at that separate website.

The latter format is what also what the lichess 4545leageus website does, for those of you familiar with that.
(see e.g. https://www.lichess4545.com/lonewolf/ ).

A matter of  just trying some formats and see what we feel about r them and whether people show up or drop off.
