Certabo board interferes with DGT board when connected to same PC

Something very odd. Why would the Certabo board generate feedback in the DGT Rabbitt plug-in software for a DGT board? I have the Certabo software completely uninstalled and when I try to use my DGT board via Fritz and the DGT Rabbitt plug in it works fine until I connect my Certabo board to the same computer. The Certabo connection causes all kinds of green Queens to flash in the DGT Rabbitt plug in software and interferes with the communication to my DGT board. If I were to try and make a move on my DGT board it won't register.

You can watch it happen here:

Hi Cpuchess

Thank you for your report, that is strange. Can you check in device manager if the boards are by chance using same com port? It maybe a port conflict in which case you can solve manually changing the com port assignation. Can you post a screenshot of serial devices connected with relative coms?

Our software is looking for the board but won't interfere with other software as it establish a direct connection.

Another possibility in case you have Lars Nowak driver in Fritz selected it can cause conflict else if i do not think this is the case and looks more a port conflict so both board are sending data on same port.

Let us know and all the best

Pietro

Hi Pietro,

There is something really strange going on. My DGT board can connect to my PC via USB or Bluetooth and depending on which method I choose it uses a different port number. Either way the problem persists when I connect the Certabo to the same PC.

However, something even more strange. I continued to connect my DGT board to the same PC and then connected my Certabo board to my laptop which had never had the Certabo board connected to it and it still affected the DGT board connected to my PC!

You can watch it happen here. You will have to forgive the lack of audio in the video. The Certabo board is on the left behind my laptop and the DGT board is on the right connected to my PC.

Hello Cpuchess

I see now. As soon as you power up our board it starts reading and transmitting data on usb.

Both board are RF devices and generate a RF field to read pieces. I reckon putting the boards so close they are exchanging some disturbs on the edges cells infact I see problem only A column and some on B which is the side touching with other board. So I think the random queen is ghost piece detected else if no piece is there due to this which the other software is showing as queens

Long cables passing close or over  the board can also acts like antenna and introduce some disturbance in reading.  I think just increasing separation between boards will solve the problem.

All the best

Pietro

Thanks Pietro, that was the problem. As soon as I moved the Certabo board away just a little bit the problem went away.
