CertabOdroid

Hello Certabo mates

We are soon releasing CertabOdroid. Starting from open source Peter Österlund's  Droidfish app we have implemented support for our boards. The app is complementary to the other great CFA app of our friend Aart so with both you have the most complete choice!

The app runs quite strong (we think 🙂 ) some of you already have tested anyhow some little bugs maybe still present on latest version of Android. We have another round of testing if some of you like to be added to beta release just drop us an email.

Many thx for your support

Pietro

I can test, please involve me!

Thanks

Txema

Hello Jose

It's been released already few days ago. If you look for Certabodroid on playstore you shall find.

This is first release so please feel free to tell eventual bug or suggestion we will open a dedicated section for it to collect all feedback..

All the best

Pietro

I've been playing arround and it works quite well, on my just updated Transformer Prime, flashed ROM and it came back to life on android 7.1, after several years not used. It will be my portable Chess machine.

I face some lost connection issues with the USB, whenever it goes to sleep.

The voice stuff is great and I believe it can help me a lot to train myself on positions and tactics.

I've some questions:

  • Can I move the engines and books I collected for the PC version to the Android one?
  • Can I install also the Syzygy end tables?

Regards

Jose

Hello Jose

Thanks for your feedback. Yes it disconnects as the board is supplied by the phone so whenever it goes in standby it cuts power out to avoid discharging phone battery. Anyhow after you can reconnect and game shall continue from where left.

The engines on PC cannot be transferred because they need to be compiled for Android device and run on that chipset. But what you can do is look for "Chess Engine Collection" packcage on play store and install you will find several engines directly in the menu. You can anyhow install any other chess engine specifically made for Android if you google you may find many. Then you can drop and copy in your phone under UCI directory they will appear for selection in manage engines.

Here there is for example a package of 76 uci engines for Android https://rapidu.net/3432529669/ChessEnginesforAndroid.7z maybe not all will work but many do need to try.

Yes you can also add syzygy like as standard on droidfish. There are Massimiliano Goi endgame table base. Be carefull as they need more than 1Gb space. And instruction how to install here below.

You can do the same for books also here some tutorial

Pietro, it went smooth following the tutorials, I put komodo and Stockfish from the free engines package, got the cerebellum opening book and the 3-4-5 Syzygy. Now I have a powerfull portable chess e-board and chess computer.

Thanks

Jose

I'm starting to go through some classic games PGNs (from Chernev's book), is there any way I can replay the games on my board??? It will be great if I can actually see the movemments on the board for analyzing a PGN game.

Thanks

Jose

Hi Jose

Sorry for bit delay in reply 🙁 bit hectic week finalising the release 3.5  which will launch over the weekend.

If you ask relative to CertabOdroid so far you can start from new game. If instead want to do the on standard software software you can set position as you want and select human game so you replay the game and ask for Engine advice eventually. We are now integrating the analysis tool so you can make proper evaluation of position replaying you favorite game.

All the best

Pietro

I was wondering if there's any way I can play one side and the leds will light for the other player when replying the game. It worked one time but not sure how I did it.

Txema

Hi,

I just got the latest 2.0 which can connect to Lichess.

There are, however, very little instructions on what Lichess features can be expected and how to use it. Any functionality user guide you could write in a pinch?
