Invalide move for promotion

Hello,
 
I received my Certabo chessboard for Christmas. 
I play with my Windows 10 PC.
I am surprised not to be able to realize the promotion of the pawn when I arrive on the opposing line. The software refuses and marks: "Invalid move".
 
Why can't I change my pawn to another piece?

Hello Samuel

Welcome to the forum! For promotion you need to just remove the pawn for the board and put directly the piece you like on 8th row. If you put pawn on 8th row it assume as error as it is expecting a piece different any like queen bishop rook etc.

So just lift the pawn for. 7 row and put the other piece on 8.
